Inspiration: Death by author on a rampage.
Firstly, my friend Chloe came up with the title and she wanted me to make it clear that it was her. These are one of my crazy friends who somehow put up with me and if any of them are reading this I thank you.
Now back to the theme of the blog; inspiration. I get my inspiration from lots of places and when some writers put at the beginning of their book that none of the characters are based off real people then they are most likely bending the truth because even if they hadn't noticed it, characters need to have a base and for the majority of my characters they come from people watching. Now before you assume what that is and call me creepy for doing so let me explain. It seemed to be an unconscious thing until I started writing and noticed similarities between people in my life and characters in my book. Some of my friends started to find connections and used to try and guess who they were based off and it has become like a mini quiz every time I post something onto my Wattpad.
Now most of the topics that I talk about are quite dark and controversial, I wanted to write about these topics in the style of a book to bring up the topic in a way that wouldn't make people believe I was pushing them to believe something or have a certain opinion but instead to bring their attention to it so that they can forge an opinion from it. When I started writing about these topics it brought up some concerns from my mum and teachers. Of course my friends were aware of my darker side and knew it wasn't something to worry about but rather to join me in the dark jokes and coming up with ideas. My mum however made an effort to tell any of my friends who bought my book that none of the things that happened in the book had happened to me in real life which is funny to see peoples reactions. (Love you mum!)
Talking about family they are another huge inspiration to keep writing, not because I base characters off them but because they are so supportive and on-board when I decided to self-publish. My dad being the type of person he did wanted to lots of research on the publisher and I'm glad he did because it made sure that I didn't get ripped-off or not get the royalties I deserve. That is another big thing when publishing, unlike most terms and conditions publishing ones are important to check for copywrite and getting paid. My biggest inspiration this year was the birth of my nephew Oscar, he was born in December last year and he has brought joy to all of our lives. He is a bundle of joy and allows me to escape the dark writing style of mine to enjoy he new found ability to giggle and make all of us laugh too.
This sort of went off on tangents which I believe most of the blogs will do but that it just one of my personalities which you will get used to after a few of these. Thanks for reading. Signing out Millie
